The novella follows seven Afghan refugees sharing a tiny apartment in New Delhi in 1985, with one television between them. That television becomes everything, a window, a distraction, a reason to gather, a source of ridiculous arguments. Told in nine segments, it is a light comedy about displacement, yes, but more than that, it is about the grace that somehow finds you even when you have lost everything else.

I wrote this because refugee stories deserve more than headlines. They deserve the full picture, the warmth, the wit, the ordinary moments that remind us we are all, underneath it all, the same.
